BEER-BACON NUT MIX

Logan has decided to go back to college and finish his degree!  We had a few of his friends over before he moved to San Marcos, and of course, being the beer lover that he is, he requested beer food.  One of the recipes I came across was for these nuts.  Everyone loved them, but I will say they were a bit frustrating for me.  They all stuck together – I broke them all apart and then when I put them in the serving bowl, they stuck together again!  However, the flavor was so good that no one seemed to care that they were somewhat sticky.  Of course Logan had me use a heavy beer so it could have contributed to the stickiness – not sure about that, but no Bud Light for my boy!

1/3 c. beer
1 c. brown sugar
6 slices bacon, chopped
1 TB salt
1 pinch cayenne
1-1/2 c. corn nuts
1 c. almonds
1 c. peanuts

Boil the beer, brown sugar, bacon, salt and cayenne until the beer evaporates, about 8 minutes.  Mix in the corn nuts, almonds and peanuts.  Bake at 350 degrees 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Dump out onto wax paper to dry.
